Okay, I know what you're thinking, hot sauce? Dry mustard!? It sounds crazy, I know but take my word for it, this really is the best macaroni and cheese recipe ever. The macaroni has a nice creamy sauce and since it is made on the stove top, it can be made in a hurry. However, if you're looking for a crunchier, oven baked version this isn't it.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb elbow macaroni
- 4 T butter
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 c milk
- 1/2 tsp hot sauce
- 1 tsp coarse salt
- 1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
- 3/4 tsp dry mustard powder
- 1 3/4 c cheddar cheese, shredded
- In a large pot of boiling hot water, cook the pasta and then drain. Return the pasta to the pot and then melt in the butter. Stir with wooden spoon to coat.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, hot sauce, salt, pepper, and mustard. Stir into the pasta and add the cheese. Over low heat continue to stir for 3 minutes or until creamy.
